Industrial tiles are commonly made by pressing dry clay particles together under great pressure using large industrial machinery. This allows larger, cheaper tiles to be made without warping.
Many other handmade tiles are made with the use of molds, with clay being pressed into the mold. This gives a beautiful handmade tile, but if a variety of tile shapes are required, molds must be fabricated to create each individual shape, thus limiting variety and design possibilities.
Superlinea tiles are made by hand-rolling clay and cutting each tile individually, a difficult process to perfect. By rolling a large flat piece of clay and cutting the tile by hand, we are free from the conventional constraints of tiles made in a mold. This means that individual tiles can be more dynamic and varied, and a much greater level of bespoke design can be achieved for your unique project.
